Vijayawada: Devotees visiting Kanaka Durga temple in Vijayawada can now book darshan and various temple service tickets through WhatsApp. Temple executive officer Ramachandra Mohan said the initiative is part of Andhra Pradesh govt’s recently introduced WhatsApp governance services and is aimed at enhancing accessibility for devotees.
Kanaka Durga temple, which is the second-largest revenue-generating temple in Andhra Pradesh after Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), attracts thousands of devotees daily. Special pujas such as Suprabhata Seva, Khadgamala Archana, Kumkuma Archana, and Chandi Homa are conducted regularly and draw large crowds. Till now, devotees could book darshan and service tickets only through the temple’s official website (www.kanakadurgamma.org). With the introduction of WhatsApp-based ticketing, devotees can now simply message 95523 00009 on WhatsApp, make payments through UPI or card, and receive their tickets digitally.
Temple officials believe the new system will help reduce crowd congestion at ticket counters, making it easier for devotees to secure bookings in advance. The initiative aligns with the state govt’s digital governance efforts to make temple services more accessible and efficient for visitors.
