Skoda India First EV – India Launch Timeline Revealed!

Skoda Auto will drive in its first electric offering in India by September, 2025. The information comes from the Petr Janeba, Brand Director at Skoda India, in recent interview with an online media publication. However, the name and details of the first Skoda EV are still under the wraps. Earlier, the Skoda Enyaq IV was planned to be the brand’s first electric car in India, bit its launch has been delayed. This electric SUV was recently showcased at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show alongside the Skoda Elroq EV.

Janeba further revealed that the company is currently considering three options – the Elroq, Enyaq and the Enyaq Coupe EVs, all designed on the MEB platform. The final decision on which model will debut as Skoda’s first EV in India will be made after the announcement of the government EV policy by March 2025. The Govt. of India is expected to increase benefits for automakers manufacturing EVs in their existing facilities.

Skoda Elroq

The Elroq electric SUV features Skoda’s ‘Modern Solid’ design language, and underpins the Volkswagen Group’s MEB architecture. It measures 4.49 metres in length and come with three battery options – 52kWh, 59kWh and 77kWh. The 52kWh battery pack with a 170bhp rear-mounted motor delivers a claimed range of 370km (WLTP), while the 59kWh and 77kWh battery versions offer electric range of over 385km and 560km, respectively. The carmaker says that the Elroq (in its higher spec version) can do 0 to 100kmph in 6.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 180kmph.

Skoda enyaq/enyaq coupe

The Skoda Enyaq SUV and Coupe SUV recently received mid-life updates in global markets. The Enyaq SUV comes with the 77kWh battery pack offering a range of up to 562km on a single charge. The facelifted Enyaq coupe-SUV promises range up to 597km, which is higher than before. The lower variants of both EVs use a smaller 59kWh battery delivering a claimed range of 431km and 439km, respectively.
