Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has expressed dissatisfaction over the large number of pending files across various government departments. He has directed ministers to expedite the clearance process. This follows his recent decision to rank ministers based on their performance in clearing pending files.
During a review meeting held today at the Secretariat with ministers and department secretaries, Chandrababu Naidu provided detailed statistics on the backlog. He highlighted the average time taken for file clearance in different departments.
“In the Water Resources Department, resolving a single file takes an average of 50 days. In the Home Department, key files take approximately 47 days for clearance. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) takes about 30 days per file, while the IT and Legislative Affairs Departments also require an average of 30 days. The Labor Department has an average processing time of 28 days, while the School Education Department takes 26 days. The Finance and Forest Departments clear files in about 9 days on average,” he stated.
Chandrababu Naidu also disclosed the number of pending files in key departments:
The Revenue Department has 11,000 pending files.
The Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Departments have 14,000 files pending.
The Irrigation Department has 9,000 files awaiting clearance.
The Home Department has 7,400 pending files.
The General Administration Department has a backlog of 12,000 files.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for swift action, urging officials to reduce the backlog and improve efficiency in government operations.
