As many as 9.3 million households across the State are set to get seamless internet connectivity under Telangana government’s T-Fiber project, IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu told a delegation from World Bank that met him here on Wednesday.
“A digital revolution is set to unfold in Telangana, he said, briefing the delegation on the transformative T-Fiber initiative, which aims to equip every home in the State with high-speed internet access,” the Minister’s office said in a release on the meeting at the Secretariat.
Mr. Sridhar Babu underscored the State’s bold vision to expand the initiative, ensuring universal digital access across all villages within next three years. Telangana has already laid 32,000-km fiber-optic network, positioning the State at the forefront of India’s digital transformation.
As part of a pilot project, four villages have been digitised and serve as a testament to the project’s potential. The World Bank delegation led by Vyjayanti Desai and Kimberly Johns visited the four villages — Hajipally in Ranga Reddy district; Maddur in Narayanpet; Sangupet in Sangareddy; and Adavi Srirampur in Peddapalli — to witness first-hand the groundbreaking impact of digital connectivity on local communities, the Minister’s office said.
Deputy Secretary to IT Department Bhavesh Mishra, T-Fiber MD Venu Prasad and senior World Bank representatives Ishira Mehta, Arun Sharma and Siew Sanz Ng were among those who attended the meeting.
