Hyderabad: To work out its strategy on a no-confidence motion against GHMC mayor Gadwal Vijayalaxmi and deputy mayor Mothe Srilatha, the BRS held a meeting of its city MLAs, MLCs and GHMC corporators at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday.
The BRS does not have the required numbers to move a no-trust motion and needs support from other parties. But both AIMIM and BJP are unlikely to support it.
After the meeting, former minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said the party would make a decision based on political circumstances.
Another meeting will be held on Feb 17 where party president K Chandrasekhar Rao and working president KT Rama Rao will be present and will decide on contesting GHMC standing committee elections.
Srinivas Yadav said BRS will continue to fight on people’s issues both in the council and outside. He claimed that development in Greater Hyderabad had come to a standstill after the Congress came to power. During an informal chat with media, Srinivas Yadav demanded that the state govt implement 42% reservations for BCs in local bodies polls. He said BRS would join hands with like-minded parties and fight for BC reservations.
Former minister Md Mahmood Ali, MLAs Mutha Gopal, Marri Rajasekhar Reddy and MLC Vani Devi among others participated in the meeting.
