Ever since it lost the assembly elections, BRS started losing its steam in Telangana. In the Lok Sabha elections, it failed to win a single seat, which proved its downfall. Now, the KCR-led party decided not to contest in the upcoming MLC elections as well.
According to the reports, BRS is not contesting three MLC elections for the first time since its inception in 2001. The upcoming MLC elections cover Adilabad, Karimnagar, Medak, Khammam, Nalgonda, Warangal, and Nizamabad districts. Reportedly, BRS leaders thought that losing these elections might dent the party’s reputation further and also affect the cadre. Thus, the party decided to stay away from the elections.
However, we hear that BRS is aiming to make a strong comeback through local body polls which will be held later this year. The party leaders might be thinking that strengthing the party from ground level will be the better idea.
The last time BRS stayed away from any form of elections was for GHMC elections before the formation of Telangana. At that time, KCR decided not to contest in Hyderabad due to the party’s weak presence in the city.
