Tirupati: Nawabpet police in Nellore district arrested 8 accused in connection with a murder case on Wednesday.
According to Nellore town DSP P Sindhu Priya, 25-year-old Kalyan Reddy was attacked by a group of assailants and murdered in Nellore on Feb 8.
Based on a complaint lodged by the deceased persons’s family, Nawabpet police registered a case and during the course of investigation it was found that a duel between two groups of youngsters during a local festival on Jan 16 led to Kalyan Reddy’s murder.
The key accused in the case identified as D Ajay Kumar hatched a plan to eliminate Kalyan Reddy as he feared that the later would get him murdered otherwise. He along with seven of his other accomplices identified as Murugan Ajit, T Siva Kumar, A Uday Kiran, V Surendra, K Pavan Kumar, K Ramesh and G Manoj Kumar conducted a recce and on Feb 8, they attacked Kalyan Reddy at the wood house sangam with knives and murdered him and later on fled from the spot.
Nawabpet police arrested all the 8 accused involved in the case on Wednesday and recovered the murder weapons from the possession of the accused.
