KTR Opposes Navy Radar Station in Vikarabad, Urges Eco-Sensitive Zone Declaration | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao has opposed the setting up of Indian Navy‘s proposed radar station at Damagundam forest in Vikarabad and demanded the govt declare the area as an ‘eco-sensitive’ zone.
KTR stated that the BRS govt did not agree to the establishment of a very low frequency (VLF) radar station in the forest area during its 10-year rule, and the Congress permitted the radar station after coming to power. He also mentioned that it would be detrimental to the Musi. KTR announced that BRS would fight against the establishment of the radar station at Damagundam, along with environmentalists.
“The station is being set up in the 2,900 acre forest area by removing nearly 12 lakh trees.
On one side, CM Revanth Reddy is talking about Musi riverfront rejuvenation, while on the other hand, the state govt cleared the station that threatens the existence of the Musi,” KTR said.tnn
