Vijayawada, AP: A massive fire broke out at the Jalakanya exhibition near Seethara Centre on Wednesday, gutting several makeshift shops. Firefighters and police rushed to the scene to control the blaze, ensuring there were no casualties or injuries.
According to Vijayawada Two Town Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Durga Rao, a short circuit in a shed storing plastic items is suspected to be the cause of the fire. “They are saying the cause of the fire is a short circuit in a shed housing plastic articles. The fire accident occurred at the exhibition ground next to Sitara Centre,” he said.
The fire spread rapidly due to the presence of flammable materials, and the intense heat caused several fire extinguishing cylinders at the exhibition to explode, adding to the chaos.
Three fire engines were deployed to the spot, and firefighters worked tirelessly to bring the flames under control. Authorities have confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire, and officials have urged exhibition organizers to follow strict fire safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
