Hyderabad: Protests erupted after meat was found at a religious place in Natraj Nagar, Tappachabutra, on Wednesday early morning. But by evening, Hyderabad police had established that the ‘culprit’ was a cat after scanning CCTVs.
On Wednesday morning, the meat was found when the religious place was being readied for rituals. By the time police were called, word had spread about ‘defilement’ of the religious place. Locals and members of religious organisations started to gather and staged protests, raising slogans demanding action against the culprit.
A large number of policemen were deployed at the spot to avoid any untoward incidents in light of prior incidents of mischief leading to violence.
While controlling the protesters, the police started their investigation. Additional commissioner of police (law & order) Vikram Singh Mann also reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
Though there were no CCTV at the premises, police stumbled upon a cat carrying meat in visuals from nearby CCTVs.
“It was around 6.30 am that the cat was spotted with meat near the religious place,” DCP (south west) Chandra Mohan later told the media.
