NEW DELHI: A fire broke out at an exhibition ground near Sitara Centre in Vijayawada on Wednesday, destroying several makeshift shops due to a suspected short circuit in a shed containing plastic items, according to police officials.
Vijayawada Two Town Assistant Commissioner of Police Durga Rao indicated that the blaze originated in a shed housing plastic articles.
“They are saying the cause of the fire is a short circuit in a shed housing plastic articles. The fire accident occurred at the exhibition ground next to Sitara Centre,” said Rao.
The fire was successfully contained, and no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
During the incident, some fire extinguishing cylinders stored at the exhibition site exploded due to intense heat, police officials added.
