Telangana Police bust illegal betting house on Hyderabad outskirts; apprehend 61 | Hyderabad News


The Cyberabad police said they busted an illegal casino operating out of a farmhouse on the outskirts of Hyderabad late Tuesday.

In a joint operation, the Rajendranagar Special Operations Team (SOT) and the Moinabad police in the Tholkatta village apprehended  61 people. Those nabbed also include five workers who were part of organising rooster fights.

The police said they also seized 84 roosters, 46 knives used in rooster fights, betting coins and cards, 55 cars, and cash worth Rs 30.59 lakh.

According to the police, most of the accused are from different districts of Andhra Pradesh, such as Eluru, NTR Krishna, East Godavari and West Godavari, and many of them are residents of Hyderabad. The police said Bhupathi Raju Shiva Kumar Varma, a businessman from Hyderabad’s Narsingi and native of Konaseema district in Andhra Pradesh, took the farmhouse on lease and was organising betting on rooster fights.

The accused were booked under sections 3 and 4 of the Telangana Gaming Act, and Section 11 (a) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act by the Moinabad police. “They have been issued notices. There is no arrest in the case so far,” G Pavan Kumar Reddy, Inspector, Moinabad police, told indianexpress.com.
