Warangal: Warangal police commissioner Amber Kishor Jha urged young people to shun drugs and set positive examples for future generations during a 2K run against drugs organised by the Telangana State Journalists Union at Pochamma Maidan junction on Wednesday.
The run, which started at Pochamma Maidan and passed landmarks like Gopala Swamy Temple, MGM Junction, and the Central Library before concluding at Kakatiya Medical College, saw active participation from students and staff of Kakatiya Medical College, Chanda Kanthaiah Memorial College, Degree and Junior Colleges, as well as NCC cadets.
“Changing your habits can turn you into role models for the next generation,” Commissioner Jha said, stressing that avoiding narcotics is critical for a healthy future. He also encouraged adopting simple routines like going to bed early and waking up early.
GWMC commissioner Ashwini Thanaji Wakhde and KMC principal Dr Ramkumar Reddy echoed the call for a drug-free lifestyle. At the end of the event, participants took an oath to stand against drugs and narcotics.
Traffic disruptions were reported as the traffic police diverted vehicles along the highway, causing inconvenience for school and college students. Despite the setbacks, the event effectively raised awareness about the importance of living a healthy, drug-free life.
