Hyderabad: As many as 19 cadre of CPI (Maoist) surrendered before the Bhadradri Kothagudem police on Thursday. Among these surrendered Maoists are those operating in Kanker, Bijapur, Dantewada and Sukma districts of Chhattisgarh.
With the police and CRPF battalions specifically taking up programmes for the welfare of tribals in the area, the Maoists decided to join the mainstream, police said.
Under ‘Operation Cheyutha‘, the surrendered Maoists can benefit from the welfare measures available to them.
In Jan, it may be mentioned here that the district police had held an ‘Aathmeeya Sammelanam’ with the families of the underground cadre and surrendered Maoists in Charla. They were informed about the schemes that the surrendered Maoists could benefit from as the govt wanted them to join the mainstream and live a peaceful life with their families. During the programme, 22 Maoists had surrendered.
