BRS MLC gets notice, claims innocence

Hyderabad: Following a police raid at a farmhouse where 61 individuals were caught betting during an illegal cockfight, Cyberabad authorities have issued a notice to BRS MLC Pochampally Srinivas Reddy, the owner of the property.
Moinabad police served the notice under section 35(3) of the BNSS. In response, Srinivas Reddy defended himself, claiming innocence and clarifying that, although he owns the property, it was his relative, Gyandev Reddy, who managed its operations.
“Gyandev Reddy leased the property to Ramesh Kumar Reddy, who subsequently handed it over to M Venkatapathi Raju. I learned about the misuse of my property through media reports,” the MLC stated.
Police raid, based on intelligence reports, revealed that Bhupathi Raju Shiva Kumar Varma was among the 61 arrested and had organised the illegal gambling activities by inviting participants. Further investigations into the ownership of the property showed that the MLC had purchased it in 2018.
