Illegal dumping of construction debris continues at Himayatsagar; 2 cases registered

Hyderabad: Construction debris continue to be dumped illegally into Himayatsagar reservoir catchment area, highlighting encroachment threat to city’s water bodies. Recently, two cases were registered by the Hyderabad Disaster Response Force (DRF).
On Feb 9, a complaint was received from GB Chandra Shekar Babu, station fire officer residing in Shanthinagar, about a tipper lorry dumping debris in the reservoir’s catchment area early in the morning. It was obstructing the natural water flow into the reservoir, he said.
The DRF team caught two men – lorry driver G Raju (30) and owner G Raju (32) – from the spot. A case was subsequently registered under BNS sections along with sections 3 and 4 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property (PDPP) Act.
Later in the day, at 2:30pm, another complaint was received from the same official, detailing a second instance of illegal dumping. This time, the incident occurred around noon at the reservoir near Kothwalguda. A tipper lorry was found dumping debris into the reservoir. The driver, identified as Sharamjit Singh, was caught at the scene along with the vehicle and handed over to RGIA police station, Shamshabad.
Following the complaint, a second case was registered under the same sections. Lorry owner Santosh was also implicated in the case.
