Man gets 20-yr RI for sexually abusing boy

Hyderabad: A 35-year-old autorickshaw driver was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment on Thursday by the XII Additional Sessions Judge Court at Nampally for sexually abusing an eight-year-old boy. Judge T. Anitha also imposed a fine of ₹10,000 and directed the Secretary of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to compensate ₹1 lakh for the victim.

In April 2018, the accused Masood Khan kidnapped the victim, a first-grade student, when he was playing with his brother, and sexually abused him at a public wash area in Asifnagar. The boy was taken to Osmania General Hospital and Niloufer Hospital for treatment. The victim’s mother filed a police complaint, leading to the arrest of the accused.

“Medical and scientific evidence proved the crime. Though the defence lawyers attempted to challenge the case and two eye-witnesses turned hostile during the trial, the court convicted the accused based on the victim’s statement and circumstantial evidence,” said additional public prosecutor A. Ram Reddy.
