
It is not anything new that Kannada audiences have felt left out because of the bias of OTT giants. Even a show like ‘Ekam’, backed by people like Rakshit Shetty and Raj B. Shetty could not get sold to any platform.
Audiences have once again expressed their fury on social media, this time against Prime Video. A user has pointed out that in the last two or three months, Prime Video India has released only two Kannada movies in total and it is very disconcerting.

Kannada-speaking users are giving the same subscription fees as other people but they do not get to see anything in their own language and they are not very satisfied with the fact. There are no questions of original shows, and there is such a dearth in licensed titles too!
And there is no lack of movies in Kannada too, new movies are coming to theaters every now and then. But it seems that platforms like Amazon Prime do not want to cater to the Kannada audience. Why they do not care about them is not known but they should keep this in mind that a large chunk of their subscribers come from Karnataka.

If they need to keep their fans satisfied they need to give them what they want, in their language.
If this trend continues, Kannada movie lovers might turn to alternative platforms that respect their language and culture. With the rise of regional OTT platforms, Prime Video risks losing a significant portion of its Kannada-speaking subscribers. Many fans are already urging filmmakers to consider direct-to-digital releases on platforms that genuinely support Kannada content. Amazon Prime must act swiftly to address these concerns before losing its credibility among Kannada audiences.
