State gears up for budget with focus on RRR, infra & welfare

Hyderabad: Deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka on Thursday affirmed the govt’s commitment to financing the RRR project, stressing the need for its swift execution.
Chairing a pre-budgetary review meeting with roads and buildings minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and senior govt officials, Bhatti, who also holds the finance portfolio, directed officials to accelerate the preparation of the project’s Detailed Project Report (DPR) and 3D designs. During the meeting, officials were instructed to compile a comprehensive report on the assets of the roads and buildings department across the state and take necessary measures to prevent encroachments. The minister also directed the speedy construction of roads under the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM) and the full development of connectivity between districts and Hyderabad.
Emphasising effective utilisation of funds under the SC, ST Sub Plan Act, Bhatti pointed out that the Congress govt had introduced the Act, which was overlooked by the previous govt for the past decade. He urged officials to ensure that public awareness campaigns highlight these developmental works.
In a separate pre-budget meeting with the BC welfare department, held alongside BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar, the deputy CM stressed the urgent need for repairs in welfare hostels and gurukuls.
He assured that necessary funds would be allocated immediately for the installation of mosquito nets on windows and doors. Furthermore, he directed that BC study centres be transformed into employment hubs, aligning coaching programmes with the Telangana Public Service Commission job calendar, with a particular focus on exams such as DSC and banking.
The meeting also covered key transport initiatives, including the procurement of electric buses for RTC and the establishment of necessary charging infrastructure. Officials discussed RTC’s asset management and revenue sources, exploring ways to enhance financial sustainability.
