The executive committee meeting of the Visakhapatnam Apartment Residents Welfare Association (VARWA) and Federation of Colony associations (NIVAS) was organised here on Wednesday, at Alluri Vignana Kendram, Dabagardens.
During the meeting, the members discussed various issues being faced by the people in various zones under the corporation limits such as underground drainage, lack of street lights, city buses, stray dog menace, pigs menace, traffic issues, need for flyovers and underpass. The members also discussed that in some areas UGD was built, but no connection was given to houses. Some threw light on the lack of rythu bazaars in their localities.
The members also stated that the NDA government has assured to review the property tax, promised not to increase electricity charges, not to privatise DISCOMs, not to implement prepaid recharge system in electricity tariffs and not to install the smart meters. The members have decided to organise protests in all zones for realisation of the demands from the NDA government. A massive dharna with members of all zones will be taken up on March 19, they have decided. They have also released a pamphlet detailing the issues.
President of VARWA, N Prakash Rao, General Secretary, VARWA, BB Ganesh, and others were present.
