Hyderabad: A 55-year-old woman was burnt to death in a gas leak while she was preparing tea at her residence in Papireddy Nagar in
Jagadgirigutta. The incident came to light after the woman succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at Gandhi Hospital on Wednesday.
According to Jagadgirigutta inspector K. Narsimha, the deceased has been identified as Sukarna, 55, residing in Jagadgirigutta with her son
and daughter-in-law.
On February 11, while she was preparing tea for her sister-in-law, who had paid a visit to her, the explosion occurred. The police said she
overlooked the leak and suffered 30 per cent burn injuries on her body.
Her son, who was home then, immediately dialled 100 and 108 and shifted her to Gandhi Hospital for treatment. However, she succumbed
to her injuries the next day. Her body was shifted to the Gandhi mortuary for postmortem.
The Jagadgirigutta police registered a case under Section 194 of the BNSS and further investigation into the incident is underway.
