VIJAYAWADA: YSRC leader and former Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi was arrested by Andhra Pradesh police in Hyderabad of Telangana on Thursday morning on the charges of abduction, threatening and intimidating witnesses and complaint in connection with the attack on the Gannavaram TDP office back in Feb 2023.
It may be recalled that a few days ago, Mudunuri Satyavardhan, a computer operator at Gannavaram TDP office and who was an eyewitness in the attack on the Gannavaram TDP office, turned hostile in his deposition before the SC/ST Special Court Magistrate and stated that he has connection with the case. He submitted an affidavit in person and declared he had no connection to the case.
However, Satyavardhan approached the police and stated that he was kidnapped and threatened by YSRC leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi and others so that he had submitted a false affidavit before the court and was forced to declare that he had no connection to the case.
Based on the complaint from the victim Satyavardhan, the Patamata police of NTR police Commissionerate registered cases against Vamsi under BNS sections 140 (1) (kidnapping), 308 (extortion), 351(3) criminal intimidation by threat of death, read with 3 (5) and under sections 3 (2) and 3(1) the SC/ST (prevention of atrocities) Act. Vamsi was arrested by the AP police in his residence in Hyderabad and he is being shifted to Vijayawada.
TDP office attack: Andhra Pradesh HC dismisses anticipatory bail pleas of accused
The Andhra Pradesh High Court dismissed the anticipatory bail petitions filed by the accused in the 2023 Gannavaram TDP office attack case. Justice VRK Krupasagar ruled that the petitions were inadmissible under the law and advised the petitioners to seek relief from the lower courts.
The case pertains to an incident in February 2023, when several individuals, reportedly YSRCP supporters, vandalized the TDP office in Gannavaram, Krishna district. Following the attack, Gannavaram police registered cases against multiple individuals, including Ch Krishna Rao and 32 others.
