Andhra Pradesh warehouse theft: iPhones, laptops worth Rs 2.5 crore stolen from Vijayawada, 6 arrested

In a significant breakthrough, the Vijayawada police have arrested six members of a gang from Uttar Pradesh for stealing Rs 2.51 crore worth of iPhones and laptops from a warehouse in Vijayawada’s Enikepadu.

According to police, the gang, led by a person named Ranjit, had been operating in Andhra Pradesh for some time.

They had been gathering information about warehouses in the area and had targeted the Enikepadu unit on the night of February 5, police added.

The cops said that the gang had cut through the roof of the warehouse and fled with the stolen goods. However, their luck ran out when they were caught by the police on February 7 while trying to escape to Bihar.

The police have recovered all the stolen items, including iPhones and laptops, and have arrested six members of the gang. The cops are also investigating how the gang had managed to gather information about the warehouse and its security systems.

In the wake of the incident, the Vijayawada police have announced that they will be increasing security measures in the area. This includes installing CCTV cameras and setting up committees to monitor the security of warehouses and stores.

“We will not tolerate any kind of criminal activity in our city,” Vijayawada Police Commissioner Rajashekhar Babu said.
