Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS: Adjusting & upgrading the stock headlights

I have been using stock bulbs since the start which I feel are a bit weak.

BHPian Krysis recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

Hi All!!

I own a Grand i10 Nios 2019 (1st model) Sportz AMT. I couldn’t find a relevant thread for that particular car so posting here. Hope that’s okay with the mods. Please feel free to move the post to relevant thread if required.

My query is that from the time I purchased the car, I have noticed that the driver side headlight throw falls lower than the co-passenger side headlight throw. I find it a bit inconvenient as I feel the illumination ahead of me as the driver is less. Is it so for all the cars in General (haven’t noticed this in other car in the household)or with Nios in particular?

I have raised this concern at every service with my service advisor, and at the end of the day they talk it off saying there is no issue in the headlight. First of all they check the lights during day time when the effect of light is not profound. plus they park the car very close to a wall and then switch on the lights saying its at same level. I have shown them pic clicked by me many a times, but to that they give this logic that since there’s only driver sitting in the car, the light throw infront of him tends to go down. I am not that heavyweight by any means

This logic is hard to take in. Attaching the pic please let me know if this is normal.

Also would like to get your advice on bulb upgradation. I have been using stock bulbs since the start which i feel are a bit weak. And especially during winters they seem very ineffective. So want to change them before winters sets in. I have no idea as to what bulb or LED to upgrade to. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Here’s what BHPian saket77 had to say on the matter:

Actually quite normal for driver’s side headlamp aim to be slightly lower than the passenger side. Not because of the weight of driver as your SA has told you but because you don’t want to blind the oncoming traffic. The left side is aimed slightly higher so that it can illuminate the signages etc marked on the side of the road. So, you will find this setting in most cars.

Coming to light upgradation, I assume that is a halogen bulb, then you can try upgrading to 90/100W bulbs with a proper relay and wiring kit. Should cost you between 1K-1.5K. But then it may not be road legal in true
