Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has planned two major SUV launches for this year – the Urban Cruiser EV and Hyryder 7-seater. Both models will arrive in the second half of 2025. The Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will mark the carmaker’s debut in the electric vehicle (EV) segment, while the Hyryder 7-seater will come as an affordable premium three-row offering from the Japanese automaker. The new Toyota 7-seater SUV will compete against the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and MG Hector Plus. It will essentially be the re-badged version of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara 7-seater SUVwhich is due for this festive season.

Let’s delve into key details on the upcoming new Toyota 7-seater SUV that we know so far:

New Toyota 7-Seater SUV Launch Timeline

Design:

The design and styling of the 7-seater Toyota Hyryder will be similar to its 5-seater counterpart. However, its expected to witness a few cosmetic changes such as revised front and rear bumpers, resigned headlamps and taillamps and new alloy wheels. Compared to the Hyryder, the SUV’s three-row version will be longer and have more cabin space to accommodate an additional row of seats.

Interior:

The cabin layout will be slightly different, featuring a three-row seating arrangement, but the interior theme and features will remain unchanged. This means, the new 7-seater SUV will come with the leatherette seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, Arkamys sound system, a panoramic sunroof, 360 degree camera, drive modes, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, HUD unit, wireless charging, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill descent control and more. To enhance its premium quotient, the carmaker might improve its material quality and introduce ADAS (advanced driver assistance system).

Powertrain:

The powertrain options are also likely to be carried forward from the 5-seater Hyryder. This means the Toyota Hyryder 7-seater SUV will come with the 1.5L, 3-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine with an electric motor and 1.5L K15C petrol mild hybrid options. While the mild hybrid version can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission, the strong hybrid version will come with an e-CVT gearbox.
