Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s Chhaava has taken the box office by storm. The Laxman Utekar directorial, based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, is witnessing an extraordinary run, aiming for a ₹100 crore opening weekend.
The film opened with a solid 28 crores on Valentine’s Day. It gained further momentum on Day 2 with 34 crores. No film has shown growth in collections the next day after Valentine’s Day in recent decades. Chhaava has done the unimaginable.

With Sunday marking its biggest day yet, early estimates suggest collections of 38-40 crores, pushing the total past the 100-crore net mark in just three days. The worldwide gross will be touching 150 crores with fantastic business in overseas markets as well.
Chhaava will become Vicky Kaushal’s second-highest opening weekend grosser after Uri: The Surgical Strike. The film has received mostly positive word-of-mouth which should ensure strong footfalls for a few weeks.

Additionally, it faces no major competition until Salman Khan’s Sikandar on Eid 2025, giving it an open run at the box office.
While Chhaava is performing exceptionally well, there’s no denying that its numbers have been boosted by external factors like corporate and block bookings.

Interestingly, this wasn’t even necessary, as the film has been organically drawing audiences due to strong word-of-mouth.
Its real test begins on weekdays, which will determine whether it can sustain momentum for a long run. We have to see if Chhaava can surpass the lifetime business of Vicky Kaushal’s biggest hit URI which collected around 270 crores net in India.
