The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) is organising a BEE–Indo German Energy Programme Partnership Summit in Vijayawada on February 20 and 21 in collaboration with GIZ (German Agency for International Cooperation). It provides a platform for discussions on the ongoing energy efficiency (EE) initiatives with a special focus on empowering State Designated Agencies (SDAs) to drive the energy conservation efforts.

Srikanth Nagulapalli, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Power & Director General of BEE, invited K. Vijayanand, Chief Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Government and Chairman of the State Energy Conservation Mission, to deliver the inaugural address and share valuable insights on the EE programmes.

In this connection, Mr. Vijayanand released a report on the BEE’s Star Rated Appliances programme during a meeting with BEE Media Advisor (South India) A. Chandra Sekhar Reddy on Sunday.

He emphasised the State government’s commitment to strengthening the financial stability of power distribution companies (DISCOMs), and highlighted its focus on leveraging the Central Government schemes such as PM Surya Ghar and PM Kusum to boost the adoption of renewable energy (RE).

While appreciating the BEE for successfully implementing EE programmes, the Chief Secretary suggested that the Centre double the State’s battery storage capacity from 1,000 MW to 2,000 MW, enhance grid stability and utilisation of RE.
