The CBSE Class 10 and 12 board examinations started on Saturday, with the subjects of English and Entrepreneurship respectively. Students found the question papers easy.

“It was like what I had expected, and all questions were from the textbooks,” said Darshil Chandak, a Class 10 student of Kola Saraswathi Vaishnav Senior Secondary School.

Some students said the English question paper, while being easy, was lengthy. “It was as expected. However, it was lengthy and I didn’t get time to double-check the answers,” said Prathiksha, a Class 10 student.

Students began assembling at centres across Chennai by 8.30 a.m. The exams started at 10.30 a.m. and ended at 1.30 p.m. A majority of the Class 12 students will begin their exams on February 21 with physics.

Nethra Balaji, a Class 12 student of Chinmaya Vidyalaya, said the Entrepreneurship question paper was easy. “I found it easier to write than the preparatory exam question paper set by our school. Everything was from the textbooks and it was a breeze.”

All the question papers for Class 10 and 12 were easy, said A. Lakshmi Prabha, senior principal, Prasan Vidya Mandir.

This year, the CBSE exams began a week earlier. Teachers and educators said they were prepared. “We were informed in advance and hence we had prepared by conducting our three pre-board examinations much earlier. This ensured that our students were confident to sit for the exams,” said N. Vijayan, correspondent of Zion Matriculation Higher Secondary School.

Ms. Lakshmi Prabha added that the exams held earlier would give the students a chance to prepare for the competitive exams and the results of the exams would be announced sooner.
