Visakhapatnam will host two matches of the franchise Delhi Capitals (DC) this season of the Indian Premier League (IPL-2025). As per the schedule announced on Sunday (February 16), the two matches are scheduled for March 24 and 30.

The first match of the DC will be held on March 24 against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and its second match, which will be held on March 30, will be against Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH).

While the match between DC and LSG is a day-and-night one and will begin at 7.30 p.m., the second match between DC and SRH will begin at 3.30 p.m. The DC will come to Visakhapatnam for practise sessions well ahead of the IPL, which commences on March 22.

This is also for the second consecutive year that Vizag, which has become a second home ground for the DC, will be hosting the team. In the last season, the city hosted two matches of the DC against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and the reception was overwhelming.

After the announcement of the IPL schedule, many cricket lovers from the city expressed happiness and spoke about the matches on social media platforms, with discussions on ticket sales already gaining momentum. The residents also recalled moments of SRH’s matches in the city a decade ago, and the return of the Hyderabad-based team is going to be special for them.

According to the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA), there was no plan to host matches here, but they met the franchise management and requested it to host a few matches in the city. Over the past couple of months, the ACA had taken up various development activities to meet the standards of the IPL. This included the stadium’s renovation and works on flood lights and toilets.

This season, the star-studded DC includes Indian wicket keeper batsman K.L. Rahul, all rounder Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, former South Africa captain Faf Du Plessis, England batter Harry Brook and Australian left arm pacer Mitchell Starc. The DC was yet to announce their captain for the upcoming season.
