Hyderabad: A social media influencer, who was cheating and extorting money from a girl keen on getting married to him, through a social messaging site was booked by SR Nagar police on Sunday.
“Based on the victim’s complaint, we have registered a case of cheating against the accused, who borrowed money from the victim several times and finally refused to marry her”, a police officer said.
The accused has been identified as Dhreej Reddy (26), a resident of Gopalnagar Kukatpally, who in June 2024, met the victim online and convinced her by saying that he liked her and wanted to marry her, the SHO said.
After that, he took loans through online apps in the name of the woman. Recently the victim complained to his parents, who threatened her. She subsequently lodged a complaint with the police.
