City docs save Swedish boy from rare autoimmune pneumonia, avert airlift

Hyderabad: A Swedish boy of Indian origin, infected with Mycoplasma pneumoniae, suffered from autoimmune dysfunction. While the Swedish govt initially considered airlifting him for treatment, doctors in Hyderabad successfully treated him, saving his life.
His mother, Yasemeen Tabassum, shared their ordeal: “We visited India from Sweden, but my younger son developed fever, cold, and cough, leading to pneumonia. Despite 10 days of treatment at a multispecialty hospital, his condition did not improve. Finally, we turned to Littlestar and SHE Hospital, where doctors diagnosed not just an infection but also autoimmune dysregulation, confirmed through inflammatory marker tests.”
To ensure the best treatment, Hyderabad doctors consulted international experts from SÖS Hospital. “We even planned an airlift with support from the Swedish govt and insurers. But thanks to the dedicated medical team in Hyderabad, our son fully recovered. We returned to Sweden with him as a healthy child.”
