Vijayawada: The seventh additional district and sessions judge of Ongole, T Raja Venkata Adri, sentenced eight persons to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of 5,000 each in connection with a murder case under the jurisdiction of Martur police station.
The men were arrested for the muder of a 22-year-old truck driver from Ramakuru village, identified a s Buraga Ratnam Babu. He was in an interfaith relationship with a 17-year-old girl, against her family’s approval. Ratnam had taken thegirl to his house after her enraged parents had sent her away on March 23, 2015. He intended to marry her after she reached the legal age.
On April 28, 2015, Sheikh Munir Basha and Sheikh Anwar Basha lured him on the pretence of wedding shopping. Later, they and their accomplices, stabbed him to death.
