Elon Musk’s “scary smart” Grok 3 sped up through the use of its Colossus supercomputer, within a period of eight months, according to xAI. The Tesla boss called it the “smartest AI on Earth.”
Grok 3 used 100,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs to provide 200 million GPU-hours for training which exceeded Grok 2 by ten times. The large-scale installation of more computational power in Grok 3 enables it to run big datasets in a shorter time frame while providing enhanced accuracy.
xAI achieved better capabilities for Grok 3 by modifying its training processes beyond hardware improvements. xAI lauds that Grok 3 delivers “insightful and unexpected solutions.”

“We’re very excited to present Grok 3, which is, we think, an order of magnitude more capable than Grok 2 in a very short period of time,” Musk said during the presentation of Grok 3.
The Tesla boss helmed AI team, also promised a “next-generation search engine” called ‘Deep Search.’

Beyond raw computing power, Grok 2 to Grok 3 introduces three key enhancements involving synthetic dataset capabilities, self-correction functions, and reinforcement learning mechanisms.
The creation process for synthetic datasets follows an artificial construction method different from obtaining traditional datasets from real sources. AI models are trained through this method within controlled settings, which exposes diverse data while handling privacy issues.
The AI system Grok 3 features one or more built-in systems to notice and resolve its own mistakes. Through output evaluation followed by comparison with approved answers, the AI technology develops more precise results with time.

Through reinforcement learning, the system receives rewards along with penalties, which help it evolve better decisions by optimizing positive results. Grok 3 performs a trial-and-error system that helps it improve its logical reasoning abilities. This hugely reduces incorrect responses, often referred to as hallucinations.
“This might be the last time that an AI is better than Grok,” Musk touted before the launch at The World Governments Summit in Dubai.
