Indian Families Postpone Their Travel Amid Visa Confusion

Many companies and universities in the US asked their respective employees and students to be back before January 20th and that was for a strong reason. The fear seems to be true looking at the change in rules, tightened immigration, deportations, student jobs, and more.

The latest issue for Indians in the US who plan to visit India is the change in interview waiver eligibility. The US immigration department changed the eligibility from 48 months to 12 months from the date the visa expires. The rescheduling of Visa appointment is not free after first time and that is also stopping the travellers from just blocking a date with their actual travel left uncertain.

Many Indian families are heard to be taking a backstep amid the confusion of visa interviews with dates already blocked for dropbox and now learn they are not eligible for the same. Already the strict immigration policies are coming down heavily on the visa holders during the port of entry. So many families are reportedly waiting for the dust to settle before blocking a date for a visa interview in India.

Apart from these, the H-1B visa holders are getting random site visits from the USCIS officials, irrespective of the visa status and approval time. A majority of students quit their part-time jobs amid the deportation fear.

Amid all this confusion and unrest, the families planning to visit India during February and March are heard to be pushing their plans to summer, even though the ticket prices will be high.
