Vijayawada: A 28-year-old man named Pulla Rao murdered his father Kadiyam Srinivasa Rao (57) over a property dispute in Mulakalapenta village of Mylavaram mandal here. The accused was said to have planned the murder with the help of YouTube videos. The incident happened on Jan 8. Police recovered Srinivasa’s body in a maize field. According to police SI K Sudhakar, Pulla Rao (28), an MBA graduate, had moved to Hyderabad in search for a job. However, instead of securing stable employment, he got addicted to betting and soon drowned in debts. Seeing his son’s financial troubles, Srinivasa cleared his debts and brought him back to their native village. Pulla later got married and had two children.
Despite his father’s insistence on helping with agricultural work, Pulla continued betting and that led to frequent arguments between the two. On Jan 8 afternoon, while Srinivasa was working in his maize field, Pulla struck him on the head with a stick. Srinivasa died on the spot.
Later, attempting to mislead the cops, Pulla falsely accused a neighbouring farmer, Challa Subba Rao, of the murder, citing an old land dispute.
