Hyderabad: Backward classes welfare and transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Tuesday directed officials to ensure people are provided all facilities during Maha Shivaratri and Ramzan later in March at two separate meetings with Telangana Road Transport Corporation (TGRTC) and other departments
Reviewing the arrangements, Ponnam said special bus services should be provided for devotees visiting temples in Vemulawada, Srisailam, Edupayala, Keesara and Palakurthi, to name a few. Subsequently, the RTC announced special bus services for the festival.
While discussing preparations for the fasting month of Ramzan, officials informed the minister that streetlights will be fixed, temporary lights installed and roads repaired near mosques, with special focus on Mecca Masjid, Royal Mosque and Mir Alam Idgah.
The GHMC entomology team informed that fogging was being done to prevent breeding of mosquitoes. The water board said that water packets will be provided at mosques and special tankers also deployed to meet the drinking water needs.
Drainage repairs along routes leading to mosques were also underway, they said.
Electricity officials said that mobile transformers will be kept ready to meet the increased demand for power during summer, and emergency staff will be available 24/7 at mosques.
Dairy officials assured that milk supplies will meet the demands of the community during Ramzan. The govt has also given permission to Muslim employees to complete their duties by 4 pm and go homes in view of the fasting month.
MLAs and MLCs urged police to manage traffic efficiently to avoid disruptions during Ramzan and allow street vendors to operate until midnight.
The review meeting was attended by govt advisor Shabbir Ali, GHMC mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, MLAs, MLCs and leaders from various parties, Faheem Qureshi of Minority Education Residential Institutions, Waqf Board chairman Syed Azmatullah Hussaini and officials from various departments.
