Hello,
I took delivery of the bike on 7th February, 2025. I have owned it for a very short period of time and driven it for only 100kms. So I can’t give you a proper review.
I went for the CB300F as it was the most VFM bike I could find in terms of engine within my budget of 2L. It doesn’t get any fancy features like TFT display, turn by turn navigation or even bluetooth, but I don’t need those as it is a 25hp bike under 2L. The Flex Tech version has only 1 variant, standard, that is the same as DLX of non FT version.
It can take regular petrol(which has an ethanol rating of E10), so that isn’t an issue and it rides like a regular petrol bike. Haven’t tested with E20 or above petrol.
As for initial impressions, it is a solid bike. The body is completely plastic, even the tank, but it is of good quality.
The engine is quite smooth upto around 6k rpm. I haven’t pushed it beyond that as I was told not to before the first service by the dealership. But you won’t need to during city riding as the engine has most of its power in the low and mid range. Overtakes are a piece of cake for this bike. I have reached a top speed of around 80 to 85 kph till now and the engine is very smooth and relaxed.
As for the mileage, I am getting around 28 kmpl in the city with spirited riding (I do have a “lead” wrist and opened the throttle quite a bit), but the service person told me it will improve to 35 kmpl after the first service and it is totally based on the riding style. My dad got 32 kmpl when he took it out for a spin because of his sedate riding style.
The gear box is precise, but the gear position indicator gets confused when shifting between 1, N and 2 sometimes, but it is not an issue.
The stock MRF tyres are alright. I had Traction Control kick in twice due to not enough grip, but it was on some gravel. They are radial tyres which help with handling. The chain does make some noise, but it is normal for this bike as it was properly lubed during delivery.
The bike handles very well in tight turns and at higher speeds. The riding position is very nice being optimised for city rinding.
The brakes are sufficient. I use engine braking as part of my riding style and it has become quite a habit, so I didn’t feel the brakes to be insufficient as per YouTube reviews. Barely needed to use the front brakes.
I had to visit the Service Centre today to get my headlight adjusted as it was pointing directly at the faces of on coming traffic. They immediately did it for me within 2 minutes, but I will know how good they are only when I go for the 1st service.
I hope I have covered all the bases and will update when anything new comes up. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Regards,
HK
