Vijayawada: Following the deaths of two patients admitted to govt hospitals in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada, health minister Y Satya Kumar Yadav sought detailed report into the incidents at King George Hospital (KGH) in Visakhapatnam and Govt General Hospital (GGH) in Vijayawada.
On Tuesday, he directed the director of medical education (DME) to submit reports and investigate complaints of negligence by the doctors involved. Relatives of the deceased patients, alleging negligence by doctors at govt hospitals, lodged complaints with the health minister, prompting him to seek reports from the concerned authorities.
In the first incident, Renuka Mohanti (63) from Vizianagaram, who was admitted to KGH on Feb 6 after exhibiting symptoms of Guillain Barre Syndrome (GBS), died on Feb 7. In another incident, a 35-year-old patient, Sunita from NTR district, died at Vijayawada GGH soon after her admission on Monday.
