Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will operate a total of 3,500 special buses on the eve of Maha Shivaratri festival to 99 Shiva Shrine in various districts across the state. Additionally, govt-run transport corporation planned to run special services from all depots to Srisailam providing advance reservation facility for passengers from both ends.
The transport corporation decided to keep the fares for special services same as those from last year.
In a letter to the zonal executive directors and all district public transport officers (DPTOs) on Thursday, APSRTC executive director (operations) A Appala Raju said that the special buses will be run on the eve of Maha Shivaratri that is to be celebrated on Feb 26. The transport corporation has set a target to net 11 crore in revenue with 60.45 as earning per kilometre (EPK) and an occupancy ratio (OR) of 102%.
In 2024, the APSRTC had operated 3,259 special buses for Shivaratri festival and realised 10.07 crore in revenue by operating 17.02 km with59.13 EPK and 100% OR.
