A total of 1,098 tons of illegally stored sand was seized during raids conducted by the Hyderabad police Commissioner’s Task Force teams from the North, West, and Central Zones, in coordination with Mandal Revenue officials at multiple locations in Hyderabad.
The raids targeted unauthorised sand dumps, where sellers were found operating without waybills, permissions, or valid documentation from the mining authorities. Some individuals were found presenting delivery documents for other districts while illegally stockpiling sand within Hyderabad for sale at inflated prices.
The North Zone Task Force led the seizures, confiscating 889 tonnes of sand from areas, including Tukaramgate, Bowenpally, Trimulgherry, Begumpet, and Secunderabad. The West Zone Task Force seized 143 tonnes from Janakamma Thota and Yousufguda, while the Central Zone Task Force recovered 66 tonnes from Musheerabad, Gandhi Nagar, and Domalguda.
Authorities have warned that illegal sale of sand without proper authorisation is a punishable offence.
