Vijayawada: Arundelpeta registered a case against a DIG-rank officer working in the stamps and registration department in Nellore, following his wife’s complaint of alleged assault. The accused was identified as Kiran Kumar.
According to Arundalpet inspector Veera Swamy, Kiran had married one Anasuya Rani following a brief relationship. She works as an assistant manager at LIC. The couple initially resided in Postal Colony. However, following marital disputes, they had been living separately for the past one year.
On Sunday night, a heated argument between the couple escalated. Anasuya alleged that during the altercation, Kiran brutally assaulted her and she lost consciousness. Locals rushed the woman to a private hospital. Upon recovery, she lodged a complaint with the cops against her husband.
Anasuya revealed that during their initial years of marriage, they failed to conceive and hence, had adopted a daughter. Later, in 2012, Anasuya gave birth to a son through surrogacy. She said that Kiran had extra-marital affairs and used to mentally harass her for years. Unable to bear the harassment, she chose to live separately for the past ten months.
The complainant claimed that her husband had assaulted her and their son, two days ago, when she was visiting a relatives’ house. She also accused him of threatening her with an atrocity case on questioning his behaviour. With no options left, she approached the cops. A case was registered and an investigation in underway.
