Hyderabad: The HMDA on Wednesday demolished the old court building of Rangareddy district, following a High Court order. Business owners operating in the complex had challenged the eviction, but the court ruled in favour of demolition, citing the building’s deteriorating condition and safety risks.
“We carried out the demolition as per the High Court’s directive, as the building was in a poor state and a safety hazard,” said deputy collector Rajeshwari talking to Deccan Chronicle.
“For over two decades, the building was used only for commercial activity, especially documentation including the filing of notaries. However, many senior advocates built their careers here and are emotionally attached to the place,” said R. Chandramouli, an advocate practicing in the court.
