Hyderabad doctor goes missing in Tungabhadra River

Koppal: A female physician from a private hospital in Telangana tragically drowned while swimming in the Tungabhadra River on Wednesday morning, near Sanapur in the Gangavathi taluk.
Police confirmed the physician’s identity as Ananya Mohan Rao, who resided in the Nampally district of Hyderabad and was employed at VKC Hospital in Hyderabad.
Dr Ananya Rao travelled to a private guesthouse near Sanapura on Tuesday evening for a holiday with her friends, Ashita and Satwik. The group decided to swim in the Tungabhadra River situated behind their accommodation.
According to residents, Ananya leapt into the river from an adjacent rock and a strong current carried her away. The area features rocky terrain with water flowing over a kilometre, and she might have become entrapped in the rocks after her jump.
Police and fire service personnel, alongside divers and residents, initiated a joint search operation in the river to locate the submerged physician. Her final jumping moments from the cliff were recorded on her friend’s mobile device. Gangavathi Rural police registered a case. The search is going on.
