JPMorgan Analyst Fired For Questioning Return-To-Office Policy

A JPMorgan Chase analyst publicly questioned CEO Jamie Dimon’s return-to-office mandate and got fired immediately afterward. However, the employee was rehired.

Nicholas Welch has been with Chase for eight years and was not happy about the return-to-office directive along with many others.

Welch is getting divorced and said he needs flexibility to deal with family and childcare issues. So he directly questioned the CEO at a town hall meeting, if he had thought of letting lower-level managers decide how many days their people should come in.

While the co-workers clapped. CEP Dimon said,’ That’s it? I’m going to give you a complete answer. There is no chance that I would leave that up to managers. Zero chance. Abuse that took place was extraordinary.’

Dimon also came down heavily about the Zoom meetings wasting time and that the company’s payroll had increased by about 50,000 people since the pandemic.

‘We don’t need all those people. We were putting people in jobs because people weren’t doing the jobs they were hired to do in the first place. I don’t care how many people sign that f-king petition’, addressing the petition signed by about 13000 employees asking him to rescind the RTO mandate.

The company’s vice-president Garrett Monghan allegedly said, ‘Go clean off your desk and get the f–k out of here.’ Welch cleaned his desk and left but however, but the company’s global IT support executive director Megan Mead he still had the job.
