Nizamabad: South Central Railway general manager Arun Kumar Jain and Hyderabad divisional manager Lokesh Vishnoi conducted an extensive inspection along the Mudkhed–Medchal stretch of the Nizamabad–Nanded route on Wednesday. They reviewed track safety, signalling, new electric traction systems, passenger amenities, and upcoming development plans.
At Umri Railway Station, Jain inspected passenger facilities, track maintenance, and safety equipment while engaging with maintenance staff on working conditions and safety protocols. At Basar, he examined the progress of redevelopment works under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS), currently underway at a cost of Rs 11.33 crore, and urged officials to expedite the project. He also reviewed the maintenance and safety of the Godavari Railway Bridge.
In Nizamabad, Jain evaluated redevelopment plans for the station — an initiative costing Rs. 53.3 crore — and inspected the running room, crew booking lobby, and Accident Relief Train. He then proceeded to Kamareddy Railway Station to review its ABSS redevelopment works, which are being implemented at a cost of Rs 39.9 crore.
Meanwhile, Nizamabad businessmen and traders met with SCR officials at Nizamabad Railway Station, urging the introduction of new afternoon trains to Hyderabad and Mumbai.
