The former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan took the time and occasion to meet with Vallabhaneni Vamsi in jail yesterday, and this immediately triggered a series of adverse remarks. Many people felt that Jagan set a wrong precedent by visiting a man who is accused of kidnapping an SC person and committed several antisocial activities.
On this matter, the very own sister of Jagan and the President of Andhra Pradesh, Congress, YS Sharmila had a very strong opinion.
Sharmila noted that Jagan Mohan Reddy has time to visit criminals in jail, but he doesn’t have the face to attend the Assembly for the people. He finds time to hold press meets and narrate his version of events, but he lacks the courage to question the ruling party in the Assembly.
The YSRCP president and MLAs, who are avoiding the Assembly despite being elected by the people, have no right to move among the public. They have no moral standing to speak about people’s issues. If they lack the courage to attend the Assembly again, YSRCP MLAs should immediately resign, Sharmila stated.
Sharmila indeed raised every important point as she rightly pointed out that Jagan has the time to visit criminals in jail, but does not intend to attend the assembly and question public policy making. This irks Jagan on multiple levels as Sharmila criticised Jagan’s visit to jail for Vamsi and also exposed his lacklustre approach when it comes to attending the assembly.
