Complainant qestioned in 5kg gold ornaments robbery case | Vijayawada News


Vijayawada: Mangalagiri police in Guntur are investigating into a five kilogram gold ornaments robbery that took place on Saturday night.
The victim named Divi Nagaraju of Mangalagiri alleged two unidentified miscreants stole the ornaments worth about 4 crore from him.
Nagaraju who works for a jewellery shop owned by his relative Divi Ramu in Vijayawada. According to Mangalagiri SI Venkat, Nagaraju stated that on Saturday night, he was travelling on a scooty with a bag containing the gold jewellery when two helmet-clad men on another two-wheeler allegedly snatched it and sped away. He said the incident took place around 9 pm near Atmakuru underpass junction.
Upon receiving the complaint, the cops reached the location and began an investigation. However, their initial inquiries raised several suspicions. Shopkeepers in the area claimed they were unaware of any such theft. Additionally, CCTV footage from the vicinity is being scrutinised to ascertain the exact sequence of events.
Meanwhile, police seized Nagaraju’s mobile phone and are analysing call records, which indicate he was in conversation with multiple people between 8:30 pm and 9:15 pm. The cops are verifying whom he talked with during that period. They are also checking if any crucial details can be extracted from the calls.
Nagaraju has been taken into custody for further questioning. Police said the details provided so far do not completely align with the facts and hence, are verifying all aspects.
