Demand grows for discreet enquiry to unravel ‘conspiracy’ behind Bhupalpally murder

The Brutal Murder of Nagavelli Rajalinga Murthy( 50), husband of former municipal councilor Sarala, by masked assailants that has rocked the coal town of Bhupalpally on Wednesday (February 19, 2025) night points to a possible land dispute he had with two families.

Murthy was the petitioner in the case filed against the persons at the helm in the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) dispensation for alleged irregularities in the construction of Medigadda barrage of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project (KLIP) in the local court. He had filed a private complaint in the local court last year over the Medigadda episode alleging embezzlement of funds in its construction.

The gruesome murder of Murthy, known as a social activist among his associates, in the district headquarters town triggered demands for a discreet enquiry to unravel the ‘conspiracy’ behind the murder. The family members of the deceased staged a sit-in on the highway in the town late on Wednesday night seeking justice.

Sarala, the wife of the deceased, on Thursday (February 20, 2025) lodged a complaint with the Bhupalpally police. She accused Renukuntla Sanjeev, Pingali Srimanth , Kothuri Kumar and another person of stabbing her husband to death over a land dispute. She expressed apprehensions that the gruesome killing was carried out by the four accused at the behest of some politicians.

Based on her complaint, the Bhupalpally police have registered a case under Section 191 (2), 191 (3), 61 (2), 126 (2), 103 (2) r/w 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police teams are on the lookout for the assailants.
