Hyderabad police cracks whip on illegal sand transportation, 57 held


Hyderabad: The Telangana government has recently intensified its efforts to combat illegal sand mining and transportation within the State. In accordance with the orders of the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the Hyderabad City Police under the supervision of Commissioner of Police CV Anand conducted significant operations against illegal sand transportation from February 14 to 19, 2025.

During this period, the police registered a total of 26 cases related to the illegal extraction and transportation of sand across Hyderabad. In the course of these operations, eight vehicles involved in the illegal activities were seized and 57 people were arrested.

As many as 1196 tons of illegally transported sand was seized, Anand said in a press release here on Thursday. The Hyderabad police remain committed to maintaining law and order and will continue to take stringent action against illegal activities, including unauthorized sand transportation. “We urge citizens to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station or commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City,” he said.
