Madiga Reservation Porata Samiti (MRPS) founder Manda Krishna has urged the one man commission chairman Shameem Akhtar to take steps to ensure that all sub castes in the scheduled castes are given justice in the SC classification.

He expressed concern that the State Cabinet had approved the report given by Justice Akhtar without a comprehensive study and a resolution was passed in the assembly without a comprehensive discussion. The MRPS had already requested Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to rectify the lapses in the one man commission’s report and the government had extended the tenure of the commission accordingly.

Mr. Manda Krishna called on Justice Shameem Akhtar on Wednesday and submitted a representation urging the commission to render justice to all sub castes within the scheduled castes. Thanking the Chief Minister and Minister N. Uttam Kumr Reddy who headed the cabinet sub-committee on classification of SCs, he said the MRPS delegation had explained the shortcomings in the report on classification to Justice Akhtar. The Supreme Court suggested that SC classification should be rational and in tune with the law, but this was lacking in the report submitted by the commission.

The most backward communities like Budagajangams, Dakkali, Mang and others were given 1% reservation on par with the developed sub castes like Pambala and Manne. This could lead to injustice to these communities again. Madiga community in particular should get 12.45% quota if their population was taken into consideration and the commission was accordingly asked to do justice to the community.

Injustice had been meted out to the community as there was no rational in the decisions announced by the government and similar was the case with the Nethakani sub caste which occupied third place in the scheduled castes in terms of population. He suspected a conspiracy to enhance reservation for Mala sub caste and demanded that the sub caste be included in Group D for classification.
